Wishbone

What’s one thing you own that holds deep sentimental value?

When my brother was born, I was two years old. I was waiting in the hospital to meet him with my Great Grandmother (my favorite person in the world). She told me that I could pick out a stuffed animal for me and for my baby brother.

I picked two stuffed dogs. One was a black lab stuffed animal and the other was a dark brown and white one. When my brother was old enough, he called his Cool Pup and I named mine Wishbone.

Growing up, there was this TV show called Wishbone. It was about this Jack Russell terrier that would go back in time during historical events. It was educational, but I loved it…even though I hated History.

Anyways, Wishbone went everywhere with me until I was into middle school. Then he said on a shelf like a trophy surrounded by other things I held dearly.

Now I hold on tighter to Wishbone, passing him to my daughter when she’s old enough. Wishbone means even more to me now that my Grandma has passed. It’s like a piece of her will always be with me.
