Target, I’m sorry

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

On two separate occasions we have stolen from Target. My brother, husband and I have this running joke that every time we go to Target together, one of us accidentally steals something. Two instances c one to mind.

One: When my brother first moved to Ohio, he was living in our basement with his dog. I love my puppy niece but she had to be contained because she was rather destructive. So, we took a trip to Target to get doggie gates.

We found what we were looking for in the baby aisle. It was one brown box labeled for the gate we were looking for. We needed another one to cover both sides of the basement where she would be contained to, but there was no more on the shelf. However, it said there was more in stock.

We flagged down an associate, who tried to scan the box (was unsuccessful), they looked it up on the store and checked in the back – came back empty handed. We decided to just pick another random gate and head to the checkout.

At the check out, we scanned every single barcode on the box – nothing would pop up for their inventory. Two different employees helped us. One eventually just overrode it and searched it to bring up the right item.

Once we got home, we begun to open the box and start assembling the gates so she could be left when we all went to work.

Then we found out that one brown box, had two baby gates inside. Whoever stocked it on the shelf, never took it out of the original shipping box.

We got two for the price of one.

Two: Maybe two weeks later, we all went to Target again. This time, My brother was looking for shelves for his books to do some unpacking.

We wandered around for forever in every possible aisle before marching to the furniture section. My brother had picked up this fancy forty-dollar candle that he threw at the bottom of his cart.

At the check out, he scanned everything from his cart after pulling it out – except for the shelves…that hide the candle out of sight.

So we started loading the car, there was the candle at the bottom of his cart. Unpaid for. Again.

We haven’t gone back to Target as a trio in a while, but those stories always give me a good laugh.

Soup

My favorite thing to cook is soup, because I can get everything set up in a crock pot and then I do not have to worry about it for the next 6-8 hours. Cooking is not my favorite pass time, so anything that I can make quick and easy will be my go to.

Soup is also one of my favorite things to eat. I love trying out new recipes and changing them if they don’t turn out the way I want them to.

Although the last time I made soup, I made it on the stovetop, and I had to split the soup between pans because it was overflowing. Well, I ended up not moving enough liquid from one pan to the next, and it burned on the bottom of the pan so badly.

My brother went to school and is a professional chef, so he had a hay day with that when he saw my poor pan. I asked his advice on trying to get the charcoal off of the bottom to save the pan (I was not about to throw it away or buy a new one). He helped me get it off the bottom but profusely told me that I should just throw it away.

Turns out, he was trying to get me to throw it away because he had bought us new pans while he was watching me try to save the pan. Not just any pans either, he got us hexaglad – for those who do not know, they are sooooo pricey.

I have used them a few times now and it is like heaven.

Soccer

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

I played soccer from the time that I was knee high until college. I played on school teams, travel teams, indoor teams, and private club teams. Then as an adult, I played pick up soccer in Virginia.

Honestly, I miss that time in my life. I was in the best physical shape, I had a lot of fun, and it kept my body and mind busy.

The last time that I played soccer was over the summer. My brother just moved in with us and he had an itch to go outside and kick the ball around – except neither of us had the equipment anymore. So, we drove to two stores and found cleats that we both liked and K got a ball as well.

We drove to the fields over by our house (this small park with soccer nets up). We played for two hours in the hot sun while my husband laid in the shade (he wasn’t feeling well at the time, I don’t remember what was wrong). But when we were done playing, we went to Rosters for beer and food.

I remember that day feeling so content. I hope I’ll get to return to that again soon.

Bucket list

What books do you want to read?

When it comes to books, I have a mental bucket list on books I’d like to read. I have a variety of genres I’d read cover to cover, but currently romance has been my favorite.

I am reading A Court Of Thorns and Roses series, I am on the second book. This is a series I started last year, I read the first book like a fever dream, but then struggled with the second, this year I reread the first book and now I’m on the second once again. I read it every day before bed.

Realistically I’d like to finish that series, then move onto more of Sarah I. Maas books.

I do, however want to explore more books in that genre (I get all my best recommendations from Vanessa).

Then I have random books that I’ve wanted to read, new poetry books, and Matthew Perry’s autobiography…I loved him. He will always be my Chandler Bing.

So. Many. Hobbies.

What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

(As I have said In many, of my previous posts) I have so many hobbies that I keep up with every single day.

I love reading, so every night before bed I read a few chapters of my current book.

I love writing, so multiple times during my day I make a point to write how I am feeling or work on what I am writing.

I love crocheting, I tend to do this after I get home while I catch up on shows with my husband. (I am currently working on a coworkers baby blanket…then I have two more baby blankets to make).

I love tending to my plants, and obviously caring for them does take time everyday to maintain them. Whether it is watering, fertilizing, misting, repotting, or just noticing a new leaf emerging.

And all of those are just my main hobbies. Not even the extended ones that I will do occasionally.

Every now and then, I will pick my camera back up again and shoot some pictures to edit for myself. Normally this consists of just the dogs and my husband.

I enjoy hiking and walking, this is more of a spring and summer time activity for us, since the weather allows it.

I like playing video games, I’m never fixated on them for longer than a few days, but every now and then I feel the urge to pick up my controller.

Sometimes I draw, but I have not done that in months as well.

I seem to enjoy whatever hobby my mood deems worthy of my time, and I like that I have a variety to choose from,

Noah’s Arch

Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.

Depending on your level of “close to home”, about 2 hours away from my house there is Noahs Arch Encounter. Technically, it is in Kentucky but I consider it close enough since my family has visited twice now since moving to Ohio.

I always thought it was interesting, but never drive two hours on a random weekend interesting. I seem to enjoy the comfort of my own home more than anything.

English

I wish that my dogs, Luna and Nyx, understood English. I can imagine sitting down after a long day of work and just chatting it up with them about what someone said or did (or even their pets! I work in a veterinary practice).

I guess Luna would be the supporting sweetheart, and Nyx would bring the sarcasm. At least, those are the personalities that I have projected onto them in real life. (Everybody does that, right? with their own little voices?)

If you could make your pet understand one thing, what would it be?

Coming home

When I come home from work every day, my pitbull, Luna, and my Cattle dog, Nyx, greet me. Luna leaps off the bed, runs towards me, and howls while wagging her tail. Nyx runs from her bed and jumps on my hips, hoping to give me kisses.

They spend all day waiting for me, and I am never disappointed when they greet me. It is one of the best parts of my day, making me feel so loved.

I mean, Who wouldn’t miss their faces? On Thanksgiving, they got matching bandanas for our Christmas photos.
